Christ Our Great Intercessor | Hebrews 7:23–28
Before Christ calls us to stand in the gap for others, He first stands in the gap for us.
In the opening sermon of our Intercessors for the Nation series, we turn to Hebrews 7:23–28 and discover the foundation of Christian intercession.
Jesus is our perfect and eternal High Priest. His priesthood never ends, His saving work is complete, and He continually represents His people before the Father.
This means our confidence in prayer does not depend on how well we pray, how spiritual we feel, or how strong our faith seems. We come to God through Jesus Christ.
And because Christ has carried us, He begins to form us into a people who carry others before God in prayer.
Big Idea: Before Christ calls us to stand in the gap for others, He first stands in the gap for us.
Listen and be reminded: our confidence is not that our prayers are perfect, but that our High Priest is.
